Jenny Ellis

Jenny Ellis has joined the KMA team as Marketing Communications Manager. In this role, she supports the business development, marketing, and training efforts at KMA. Any inquiries about KMA Breakfast Briefs, KMA-U offerings, or KMA’s blog, social media, and events should be directed to her.

Jenny is a communications professional with a knack for organizing and synthesizing complex information and making it understandable for a target audience.

A native of Ontario, Jenny moved to Maine after graduating from St. Lawrence University, where she majored in English/creative writing.

Since then, she’s worked at a variety of companies, including a non-profit community music school in Yarmouth and retail giants L.L.Bean and west elm. She’s also worked as a freelance copywriter, designer, and project manager for several Portland-based advertising agencies.

Jenny thrives in fast-paced environments where equal amounts of juggling, good humor, and keen focus are required. Her calm, level-headed approach brings stability and competence to every project and assignment.

Jenny and her husband, Jim, have lived in Falmouth, Maine for more than 20 years, and are currently adapting to life as empty-nesters.

Why did you choose to work in the Communications field?

I’ve always been good at writing and communicating, and naturally you gravitate toward what you’re good at. Every job I’ve had has always involved writing, which over the years has led to related work in marketing and design fields, including freelance work and positions with several agencies where I could utilize my ability to communicate visually and verbally.

What do you like best about your work as a Communications Professional?

Whether trying to communicate something or manage a complicated project, what I’m most passionate about is taking a complex issue or subject, synthesizing the information, and then presenting it to an audience in a way that’s clear and digestible.

What is one takeaway from your work experience you’d like to share with others?

To be a good communicator, I believe you need to be a good listener, too. Being a good listener attunes me to the different ways people take in and process information, and having a sense of that makes me a better communicator.

Tell us a little about yourself.

My husband, Jim, and I have lived in Falmouth, Maine for more than 20 years. I enjoy painting, jewelry-making, and anything creative. I also love listening to podcasts and being outdoors (hiking, snowshoeing, skiing, or just walking for exercise). I do enjoy traveling and experiencing different parts of the world, but home is where I’m happiest!
